Cruises from Shanghai were suspended this weekend due to the coronavirus outbreak. Cruise Lines including Royal Caribbean, MSC, Costa Cruises and Astro Ocean are offering refunds or rescheduling guests.
Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum of the Seas Costa Atlantica, Costa Venezia, MSC Splendida and Piano Land with Astro Ocean Cruise have cancelled their departures from the International Cruise Terminal in Baoshan District.
Commenting Royal Caribbean said: “The decision was made to fully coordinate with disease prevention and ensure the health and safety of passengers and crews. Passengers can either get a full refund or change to other voyages between 1 July 2020 and 31 May 2021. Those who reschedule will also receive US$100 for each cabin.”
A spokesperson for MSC said: “Due to urgent guidelines from the Chinese government to combat the spread of the coronavirus, MSC Cruises is required to cancel the upcoming cruise with MSC Splendida on 28 Jan. Guests booked on this cruise have the option to receive a full refund of their cruise ticket and port charges, or book an alternative sailing with an equivalent price and receiving additional onboard credit – with an embarkation date before the end of the year.”
Costa Cruises has suspended all operations from China until 4 February, including the Costa Atlantica scheduled to depart Shanghai on Monday and the Costa Venezia on 2 February 2020.
