Havila Voyages, the family owned Norwegian costal cruise operator has appointed Bent Martini as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will join the business in August of this year, taking over from Arild Myrvoll who is leaving to start a role elsewhere.

Per Sævik, Chairman of Havila Voyages commented “Bent brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and has the innovative skills and proven performance to support our business during this key period.”

Bent has extensive experience of maritime businesses both from working on-board ships and through land-based roles with the Norwegian Navy, the Klaveness shipping company and Hurtigruten.

Martini commented “To have the opportunity to work for a new and exciting company such as Havila Voyages and to be able to further develop the exciting coastal travel experience is my dream job and I can’t wait to get started.”

Earlier this week, the company announced that its first two ships will start sailing on 24 and 30 August 2021. The ships will be operating as part of a ten-year contract with the Norwegian Government to sail the coastal route from Bergen to Kirkenes.

When they launch, Havila Capella and Havila Castor will be the most environmentally friendly ships to sail along the Norwegian coastal route and will feature the world’s largest battery packs.

Two further ships (Havila Polaris and Havila Pollux) will join the fleet in 2022.
